i am not sure if i posted it but i have started a website called bulletprooftoast and it features all of my art from the past few years.

today i am posting three more pics from my show called 'take a walk in my shoes' i basically used traditional chinese painting style to create shoes. the pics below are of women's high heels.

The Pay Off!

For all of you who know us personally, this won't come as a shock...We LOVE video games! We have spent countless hours playing video games, arguing about them and even discussing ways to improve them. So you knew that at some point they would enter into Themba's art.

In video games, the point is almost always the same; Get to the boss and defeat him (sports games excluded). We decided to depict the main character playing a classic board game with his or her final boss. However, when we started talking about the paintings Themba would do for the show, we were reminded that some games were so fucking hard that we never made it to the last guy and we didn't even know what he looked like. Therefore we had to do some research.

So for all the video game heads out there, here's Sir Arthur from Ghost 'n Goblins battling his nemesis Satan at a game of Risk. Yep Satan! He has two fucking heads and they both shoot fire! If you beat this game then you are a supreme nerd and get all the props.

pool music

today we have a different type of art...the art of choosing and mixing music, otherwise known as a mixtape.

marcus aurelius a good friend of mine and one of the dj's that is going to be playing the night of the five deadly venoms show recently made a wicked mixtape. it was actually recorded live while he was playing at a pool party last weekend. there is a ton of hotness on this mix so be sure to take your time when listening to this joint.

he is also the owner of the WAAKAO website that gives people in taiwan a bunch of information about things going on in taiwan. check it out when you can, you won't be sorry.

download it and pass it on to some friends.

focus

i am finally back with the finished product of the old man painting that i started a few weeks ago. as i said i did my best to follow the instructions given to me by mr.ransom.

the whole point was for the crazy background to serve as the pattern for his clothes. originally there was supposed to be more than just the torso showing the background, but i had to make a few changes to make it work.

we are quickly approaching my new show 'five deadly venoms' it should be a great night with dj's drinks and art. i will be back to give you more info on it later in the week. for now you check out the poster below.

transform!!

i know i am supposed to post the final version of the old kung-fu guy, but i am working on the final colors and want to make sure that everything looks right before i post that joint.

have no fear because today i have decided to put up one of the paintings that will be in the new show.

it is one in a series of six. basically the transformers go to the petting zoo and all decide to spend a little quality time with their favorite animals.

after a small debate over which one to post i decided to go with the one that had the least humor in it.

more to come.

mr. ransom pt.2

today i am back with part two of mr. ransom's instructions: sketch the character in marker, then fill in the background with a solid color.

i tried to mix up a cool looking purple but it seems a tad dark. i also went a little too free with the sketch lines so i might have to color in some areas that i didn't plan to.

the basic idea is to leave some of that craziness that i started with as part of his clothing and shoes.

i hope to be back early this week with the next step, and hopefully the finished product before the end of the week.

free at last!!!

well ladies and boys i know that i have been like a shitty parent that locks their child in the car while they go shopping on a hot sunny day, but i am back to roll the window down a crack.

i have been preparing for my next show, which i hope will be the biggest and best yet.

there is no name for the show yet, but i have been thinking that "get yours" might be a good name. there really is no thinking behind the name so don't bother.

today i hung out with my art consultant from england named 'mr.ransom'. he challenged me to turn one of my sketches into a painting. he was very precise with his instructions when he gave them to me. i told him that i would follow them as closely as i could.

so here we have step one: create a fucked up background.

How To Crash A Party

On viewing the art for our second show, "That's Art Folks," the creator of 1NCOMING magazine fell in love with the Star Wars paintings and asked Themba to do a spread for his upcoming issue. Well people that time has arrived. Bulletproof Toast is featured in the May issue of 1NCOMING. This was an unbelievable showing of creativity and will as Themba only had a week to finish 13 pieces.
The basic theme is the dos and don'ts of crashing a party. Unfortunately most of the text is in Chinese, so you English speakers will need to get a translator. Here are a couple of pics from the magazine, if you want more you should pick up the May issue of 1NCOMING.

Can't Touch This

Sorry peeps, had to remove that last post for fear of thieves! The quality of the images was way to high and we plan to use those pieces in future endeavors such as T-shirts and posters.

On another note, things are in motion for our next show. The rough date is set for sometime in the middle of August and we have our eyes set on a few venues. Ideas are flowing and excitement is building as Themba continues to improve in his ability. Stay tuned and we will be posting samples for the upcoming show.

I know you're curious, so I'll give you a little taste. For this show we decided to recreate some iconic hip-hop album covers and they were loved and immediately consumed by the masses. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported!

On another note, Themba has been commissioned to do a spread in 1NCOMING (A Taiwan based magazine sold all over Asia). More details to come...stay tuned!

Street Circus

For those of you who attended the street circus last Friday, much thanks! Here a pic of Themba's submission to the show. If you're a fan of the wire, you may recognize the street as Dookie's street.

Also, just another reminder that our next event, "Return Of The Waxxx" is on for this Saturday.

shooze! pt.2

here is my first post in my series about the shoes that i have in my collection.

today we have the jordan 1 red army. these are some of my favorite joints and only come out on sunny days. they have red suede on the toe and on the sides of them. the toe is red leather and the swoosh and inside of the shoe green is velvet. the laces are green, red and black, at first i was planning to change the laces to white or black but they kind of grew on me.

i likes these so much that i decided to do an oil painting of them. it took me a long time to finish it and i killed my self working on the details.

on another note "return of the waxxx" is coming up on saturday the 17th, it will feature hip hop cover art from albums, remixed into my style of drawing. sadly the laser engraved records didn't really work out the way we had planned so we had to move on to a different idea.

check it out here -------> http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=113951331948832

i will try my best to post some pics before the show starts to let everyone get an idea of what we will be showing that night.

return of the waxxx!

alright sons its almost here, the hip hop/art party of the year, "return of the waxxx"

for this show i will be teaming up with my boy kenrick currie to produce different hip hop icons and have them laser engraved into records! yes vinyl! its going to be hot as hell. i will post the pics as soon as i get them done.

i painted the picture above to go with the fantastic 5 idea that we came up with for the show. the design was done by the very talented leo shia. if you want to hear some real hip hop, do not miss this night.

you can check the party details here:

shooze! pt.1

well as anyone who reads this should know i have a love for shoes and since most of my paintings are still only in the sketch stages i decided i would start a series of posts called "shooze!" in it i will post some shoes from my collection and give them a review.

today i will keep it simple and give everyone a few pics that i took of the whole collection together. this is just to let you know what i am working with here. please ignore the cat bowls and water dishes in the background, i was too lazy to cut them out.

the majority of the collection is nike however there are a few random boys in the bunch.

i will be back soon with my favorite pairs and reviews to go along with them.

bff remix

i know it has been a long time since i have posted something, but i am hoping that this will be the start of a long run of updates.

today we have a "remix" of a painting that i had in the "that's art folks" show. i was asked to do a variation of the unseen bros painting.

the painting is of the yeti and big foot hanging out at the rugby world cup. the painting has been changed to resemble the famous scene after south africa won the rugby world cup in 1995. in the picture i have morphed yeti into nelson mandela and the captain françois pienaar into big foot. i added a few other south arfican touches that were not in the original painting to set the tone. i also added the preliminary sketch to show the beginning of the idea.

a serious collector...

first of all happy new year to all of the people that read this stuff. today i have decided to give everyone a look at one of my favorite unfinished pieces, as you can see we have jabba the hutt showing off a pair of his custom jordans. when this is finished i might not be able to sell it because of the emotional attachment that i have to it. when i came up with this idea i was not sure how much i would like it but, it has grown on me a lot. this pic only shows some of the story so you might have to see the finished thing to see what i mean and the 3-d model of the shoe that kenrick helped us finish is so good that i might have to beg nike to make it for me. hopefully i will be able to upload the 3-d models next week so everyone can see how wicked they look.
