The Pay Off!

For all of you who know us personally, this won't come as a shock...We LOVE video games! We have spent countless hours playing video games, arguing about them and even discussing ways to improve them. So you knew that at some point they would enter into Themba's art.

In video games, the point is almost always the same; Get to the boss and defeat him (sports games excluded). We decided to depict the main character playing a classic board game with his or her final boss. However, when we started talking about the paintings Themba would do for the show, we were reminded that some games were so fucking hard that we never made it to the last guy and we didn't even know what he looked like. Therefore we had to do some research.

So for all the video game heads out there, here's Sir Arthur from Ghost 'n Goblins battling his nemesis Satan at a game of Risk. Yep Satan! He has two fucking heads and they both shoot fire! If you beat this game then you are a supreme nerd and get all the props.

pool music

today we have a different type of art...the art of choosing and mixing music, otherwise known as a mixtape.

marcus aurelius a good friend of mine and one of the dj's that is going to be playing the night of the five deadly venoms show recently made a wicked mixtape. it was actually recorded live while he was playing at a pool party last weekend. there is a ton of hotness on this mix so be sure to take your time when listening to this joint.

he is also the owner of the WAAKAO website that gives people in taiwan a bunch of information about things going on in taiwan. check it out when you can, you won't be sorry.

download it and pass it on to some friends.

focus

i am finally back with the finished product of the old man painting that i started a few weeks ago. as i said i did my best to follow the instructions given to me by mr.ransom.

the whole point was for the crazy background to serve as the pattern for his clothes. originally there was supposed to be more than just the torso showing the background, but i had to make a few changes to make it work.

we are quickly approaching my new show 'five deadly venoms' it should be a great night with dj's drinks and art. i will be back to give you more info on it later in the week. for now you check out the poster below.

transform!!

i know i am supposed to post the final version of the old kung-fu guy, but i am working on the final colors and want to make sure that everything looks right before i post that joint.

have no fear because today i have decided to put up one of the paintings that will be in the new show.

it is one in a series of six. basically the transformers go to the petting zoo and all decide to spend a little quality time with their favorite animals.

after a small debate over which one to post i decided to go with the one that had the least humor in it.

more to come.

mr. ransom pt.2

today i am back with part two of mr. ransom's instructions: sketch the character in marker, then fill in the background with a solid color.

i tried to mix up a cool looking purple but it seems a tad dark. i also went a little too free with the sketch lines so i might have to color in some areas that i didn't plan to.

the basic idea is to leave some of that craziness that i started with as part of his clothing and shoes.

i hope to be back early this week with the next step, and hopefully the finished product before the end of the week.
